The Blue Ridge Bicycle Club (www.joinbrbc.org) is excited to announce that early registration for the 2010 Fletcher Flyer is now open!
You can register online now at http://www.active.com/cycling/fletcher-nc/fletcher-flyer-road-cycling-event-2010.
As in year's past we'll be offering three rolling, scenic, and enjoyable ride options w/ routes of 50 mile (just over 2000' ft. of climbing), 62 mile (just over 3000'), and 100 miles (just over 4000'). Here are a few more details:
Date: Sunday, June 6th 2010
Location: Fletcher Community Park, 85 Howard Gap Road, Fletcher, NC
Start: Staggered start beginning at 8:00am
Registration: Prologue Special Now thru March 31st $35.00
The Pack April 1st – May 4th $40.00
Sweep May 5th – June 4th $45.00
Ride Weekend June 5th & June 6th $50.00
If you've not had the opportunity to join us and ride the Fletcher Flyer in the past, register now, mark your calendar, then join us on ride-day to find out why the riders and readers of the Mountain Xpress voted the 2009 Fletcher Flyer The Best Cycling Event in Western North Carolina.
Need a few more good reasons to ride the 2010 Fletcher Flyer?
- Over 750 riders participated in and enjoyed the 2009 Fletcher Flyer
- The proceeds from the 2010 Fletcher Flyer go directly back into our community to support cycling education and advocacy progams. Examples include:
- Over $74,000 to Western North Carolina bicycling education, safety, and transportation planning projects
- Over $10,000 to the Parks and Greenways Foundation
- Over $2,000 to support studies and planning for future Greenways
- Donations to Safe Routes to School Programs
- Support for bicycle rodes which provide youth-rider safety and cycling skills education
- The Fletcher Flyer has been designated as one of the Leukemia & Lymphoma (LLS) National Events
- The LLS riders who participated in the 2009 Fletcher Flyer raised over $245,00
